Minister of Finance: Financing the Construction of the Rogun HPP Will Continue in 2022

DUSHANBE, 02.02.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Financing the construction of the Rogun HPP from the state budget will continue in 2022. This was announced today at a press conference by the Minister of Finance of Tajikistan Fayziddin Kahhorzoda.
According to him, in 2022 the government of Tajikistan intends to allocate 2.5 billion somoni for the construction of the country’s largest hydroelectric power plant, which is 10% more than in the previous year.
Last year a total of 3.4 billion somoni was spent on the construction of the Rogun HPP, taking into account the funds allocated from the state budget and attracted capital.
He noted that 2.1 billion somoni was allocated from the state budget for the construction of the Rogun HPP in 2021, and 2.2 billion somoni in 2020.
In 2007, when Tajikistan independently began the construction of the Rogun HPP, only 6.5 million somoni was allocated for the project.
The designed capacity of the Rogun HPP is 13.1 billion kWh per year, the projected height of the dam is 330 meters, the volume of the reservoir is 13.3 billion cubic meters. The first of the six units of the hydroelectric power plant was launched in November 2018, and the second in September 2019.
