Over 2,000 Economic Crimes Detected in Tajikistan in 2021

DUSHANBE, 02.02.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – In 2021, employees of the Agency for State Financial Control and Fight Against Corruption of Tajikistan identified 2,088 cases of corruption and other economic crimes against 1,274 citizens. This was stated today at a press conference by the Director of the Agency for State Financial Control and Fight Against Corruption Sulaimon Sultonzoda.
He noted that 885 of the cases qualify as serious crimes.
“Investigators registered 860 criminal cases and completed the preliminary investigation of 658 cases against 881 individuals,” Sultonzoda added.
He emphasized that 1,466 administrative offenses were considered by law enforcement units of the agency. The individuals who committed the offenses were fined 1.7 million somoni.
The Director of the Agency also noted that based on the results of inspections and investigations of criminal cases in order to eliminate conditions contributing to them, the Agency sent 2,532 proposals and 1,122 written orders to ministries and departments, as a result of which 1,164 persons were brought to disciplinary responsibility and 396 employees were dismissed from their positions.
