The first pilot container train on the China–Tajikistan route has been launched, the press center of the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan reported.
UTK International Logistics Co. Ltd., a joint venture established in the People’s Republic of China with the participation of UztemirYulKonteyner, dispatched the inaugural container train from China to Tajikistan on Feb. 17.
The initiative marks a practical step toward implementing agreements on deepening regional cooperation and expanding economic ties reached during the 2025 meeting of the presidents of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in Dushanbe.
The train comprises eight 40-foot containers loaded with consumer goods and construction equipment. It departed from Lanzhou Station in Gansu Province, China, and is en route to Dushanbe-2 Station in Tajikistan via the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan–Tajikistan corridor.
The total length of the route exceeds 3,500 kilometers, with an estimated transit time of 18 to 20 days.
With the support of Uzbekistan Railways, tariff preferences have been introduced along the multimodal route to facilitate logistics operations.
According to the ministry, the pilot project demonstrates the company’s readiness to establish stable and regular container transportation between China and Central Asia.
