“It is with pride and satisfaction that I note the servicemen of the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies serve as a reliable shield in defending the country’s independence and freedom, protecting the borders of the Motherland, and ensuring stability, peace and security for the state and society,” said Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan and Leader of the Nation, in a congratulatory message marking the 33rd anniversary of the founding of the Armed Forces.
“Defenders of the Motherland Day, celebrated annually with special solemnity in our independent country, reflects the high trust and respect of the people of Tajikistan for those who regard military service as a sacred mission and honorable duty,” he said.
Recalling the early 1990s, Rahmon noted that during the tragic days of the imposed civil war, the country’s leadership understood that ensuring national security and social stability was impossible without well-equipped armed forces and courageous, dedicated servicemen.
“Despite numerous economic and financial difficulties, we created a National Army, and on Feb. 23, 1993, the first military parade of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan took place,” he said.
“In other words, our Armed Forces were formed and forged in difficult and harsh conditions, gaining experience and combat capability,” the Leader of the Nation added.
