Tajikistan, UNIDO Discuss Industrial Development, AI and Digital Economy in Vienna

The Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda, met Monday in Vienna with senior officials of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to discuss expanding cooperation on digitalization, innovation, and sustainable industrial development.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, Abdurahmonzoda held talks with Providence Mavubi, Executive Director and Acting Director of UNIDO’s Directorate for Innovation in the Sustainable Development Goals and Economic Exchange. The two sides focused on strengthening cooperation in the digitalization of Tajikistan’s free economic zones, as well as promoting investment and innovative entrepreneurship.
On the same day, Abdurahmonzoda also met with Xiong Zhou, Deputy Director General and Executive Director of UNIDO’s Directorate for Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Industrial Development. The discussions centered on current initiatives and technical cooperation in industry, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and related areas.
The minister said that, with the support of President Emomali Rahmon, Tajikistan is entering a new stage of development. He emphasized that industrial development, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and the green economy represent key priorities in the country’s economic strategy.
