DUSHANBE, 10.07.2026 (NIAT Khovar) – President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, stated on July 9 during a meeting with leaders and activists of Sughd Province and employees of the country’s industrial sector in Bobojon Ghafurov District that the construction of the iron ore beneficiation plant of the Joint-Stock Company «Tajik Metallurgical Complex» represents not merely the establishment of an industrial facility, but the beginning of a new stage in the development of the mining industry and the foundation of Tajikistan’s national metallurgy sector.
The Leader of the Nation noted that construction of the large-scale facility commenced in April last year and that building works are progressing at a steady pace. Within a relatively short period, significant progress has been achieved in developing key production infrastructure, including high-voltage power transmission lines, water supply networks, roads and other essential facilities.
According to the Head of State, more than 80 percent of the construction work envisaged for the first phase of the project has already been completed, demonstrating the high level of responsibility, effective organization and strong commitment of the builders, engineers and all those involved in the implementation of the project.
It was emphasized that the «Tajik Metallurgical Complex» is being constructed in two phases with a total investment of nearly 6 billion somoni. The first phase is scheduled to become operational in September 2027, while the second phase is expected to be completed in 2029. Upon full commissioning, the complex will have an annual capacity to extract and process 2.5 million tonnes of iron ore.
The Leader of the Nation stated that more than 1,200 people will be employed during the construction phase, while after the facility reaches full operational capacity, it will provide permanent employment for more than 1,500 people.
The President also noted that the implementation of such major projects is the result of the state’s consistent policy aimed at supporting entrepreneurship, improving the investment climate and strengthening cooperation between the state and the private sector.
President Emomali Rahmon expressed gratitude to the management, engineers, builders and all employees of the Joint-Stock Company «Tajik Metallurgical Complex», as well as to the project’s partners, for their valuable contribution to the implementation of this important initiative.
He stressed that in the future the project will become one of the key pillars of the country’s heavy industry, creating new jobs, promoting industrial production and providing a solid foundation for strengthening Tajikistan’s economic potential.
