Rustami Emomali, Acting Chairman of Dushanbe city, Philipp Bennet, EBRD First Vice President discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation
DUSHANBE, 30.03.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Rustami Emomali, Acting Chairman of Dushanbe city on March 29, met with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development delegation led by Philipp Bennet, EBRD First Vice President.
According to the Information and Analytical Department of the Office of the Chairman of Dushanbe city, the parties have discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between EBRD and Executive body of state authority of Dushanbe city. During the meeting the two parties having called the support of projects of housing and communal services of the city the priority areas of cooperation, exchanged views on increasing the level of relations in the field of implementation of investment projects to improve the city’s infrastructure.
It was emphasized that the parties cooperate in the implementation of projects in the areas of water supply, public passenger transport, solid waste management, and other municipal infrastructure sectors. Until today the total amount of the EBRD investment in the economy of Dushanbe amounts to more than $ 18.2 million, and this indicator is not very satisfactory.
The supports of private sector, development of small and medium businesses, reconstruction of roads, and other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting, as well as the EBRD financial support in the implementation of the strategy of reconstruction of industrial enterprises was considered necessary.
Both parties have noted that there are still a lot of unused opportunities, and expressed confidence that the newly-elected head of the EBRD Resident Office in Tajikistan Ms. Ayten Rustamova will make great contribution to the implementation of joint projects of the city’s infrastructure.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
