Dushanbe Will Have New Trolleybuses
DUSHANBE, 17.01.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Trolleybuses which were purchased in Belarus for a sum of one million dollars, will start transporting passengers in the capital city as soon as this March.
“Initially, four trolleybuses were purchased in Belarus. We will take this batch as an experiment to see how they will operate in our conditions. If successful, we will think about purchasing an additional batch,” reported the Deputy Mayor Firdavs Saidzoda.
The price of each trolleybus is approximately $250,000. They were purchased within the Development of Public Transportation in Dushanbe project, which is funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The model 32100D trolleybuses are electric buses which draw power from overhead wires using two poles. They are manufactured by the Belkommunmash plant in Minsk.
The purchased trolleybus can travel up to 15 kilometers without an electricity contact network, while ordinary trolley buses can travel no more than 500 meters.
This model has already demonstrated its capabilities on the highways of more than 40 cities in Russia, as well as in Belarus, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan and Serbia.
