Bon Appétit! Festival of Traditional Tajik Cuisine Will Take Place in Dushanbe Later This Year
DUSHANBE, 03.07.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – A festival of national Tajik dishes will be held in Dushanbe later this year.
The Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali approved an action plan for the preparation and the organization of this festival, reported the Department of Public Information and External Affairs of the Chairman’s Office.
What is considered by most to be the limit of traditional Tajik food, is actually only a portion of Tajik cuisine. For one reason or another, throughout the years many national Tajik recipes have fallen into disuse.
The festival’s aim is to protect and preserve national cuisine, including oshi palav, shavla, shirbirinj, shirkadu, ordbiryon, tukhmshurbo, piyozpiyoba, lubishurbo, dulmashurbo, barakshurbo, mohishurbo, moshubirinj, mastoba, ugro, mantu, tushbera, kurutob, sumanak, sambusa, kabob, fried chicken, omelet and many other dishes.
In 2016, oshi palav was named as one fo the best examples of world non-material culture at UNESCO’s 11th intergovernmental meeting on the protection of intangible culture.
