DUSHANBE, 25.12.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – Dushanbe will hold its census of population and housing in 2020, according to the mayoral decree published on Tuesday.

“The Department of Statistical Agency under the President of Tajikistan in Dushanbe in cooperation with relevant agencies is to take urgent measures to conduct, process, summarize and analyze the results of the population census and housing in the capital,» the statement said.

According to a presidential decree from earlier this September the next census of population and housing will take place from 1 to 15 October 2020 in Tajikistan.

The Statistical Agency under the President of Tajikistan has prepared the recommendations for conducting the consensus, taking into account international and regional recommendations.

The state-of-the-art technology and more than 35,000 census takers will be mobilized for 1.3 million households that are registered in the country.

The report notes that the domestic and foreign citizens and stateless persons temporarily living in Tajikistan, as citizens who have temporarily left the republic will also be participating in the census.

Tajikistan conducted its first census in 2000.
