Trade Turnover Between Russia and Tajikistan Increases by Over 22% in Eight Months

DUSHANBE, 03.11.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Trade turnover between Russia and Tajikistan for the first eight months of this year increased by more than 22% compared to the same period last year, reaching $922.6 million, according to the Russian Ministry of Economic Development.
“Russian-Tajik relations are now on the rise. The dynamics of contacts at all levels is gaining momentum. In 2021, trade increased by almost 45% compared to 2020, amounting to $1.2 billion. According to the results of the first eight months of this year, Russian-Tajik mutual trade showed an increase compared to the same period in 2021 by more than 22% and amounted to $922.6 million,” said the Deputy Minister of the Economic Development Dmitry Volvach.
He also spoke about the investment presence of Russian businesses in Tajikistan.
“Legislation in the field of protecting the rights of investors is developing, tax legislation is changing. So, from January 1, 2022, the new tax code of Tajikistan came into force, which provides for a reduction in tax payments, as well as a gradual reduction in the VAT rate,” Volvach added.
