Dushanbe and Doha Become Sister Cities

DUSHANBE, 09.06.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – As part of the state visit of the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Tajikistan, a Memorandum on the establishment of sister city relations was signed between the Dushanbe administration and the Doha Municipality.
The Memorandum was signed following the top-level meetings and negotiations in the presence of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The Memorandum on behalf of the Dushanbe administration was signed by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali.
After that, the number of sister cities of Dushanbe reached 22.
To date, Dushanbe has established sister city relations with 21 cities in Asia, Europe, America and Africa on the basis of agreements and other legal acts.
Dushanbe’s sister cities include Sana’a of Yemen, Lusaka of Zambia, Monastir of Tunisia, Lahore and Islamabad of Pakistan, Klagenfurt of Austria, Boulder of the United States of America, Reutlingen of Germany, Mazori Sharif of Afghanistan, Tehran and Shiraz of Iran, St. Petersburg of Russia, Minsk of Belarus, Urumqi, Xiamen, Qingdao and Hainan of China, Ashgabat of Turkmenistan, Astana of Kazakhstan and Baku of Azerbaijan.
In general, following the top-level meetings and talks between Tajikistan and the State of Qatar, 15 new cooperation documents were signed.
