China and Central Asian Countries to Deepen Transport Cooperation

DUSHANBE, 20.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – China and the Central Asian countries have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the transportation sector during the 2nd Central Asia–China Transport Ministers’ Meeting, held in Astana.

Transport officials exchanged views on the current state of the regional and global transport landscape and explored ways to fully leverage the potential of economic, trade, and humanitarian cooperation between China and the Central Asian states.

Tajik Minister of Transport, Azim Ibrohim, emphasized national efforts to develop multimodal transport corridors, digitize logistics infrastructure, expand international transit operations, and promote sustainable transport in alignment with global climate objectives.

He also underscored the importance of training skilled professionals, sharing technical expertise, and creating a common educational platform in the fields of transportation, logistics, and transport engineering.

During the six-party meeting, the ministers voiced support for simplifying international road transport procedures and transitioning to electronic permit exchange systems.

The session concluded with the signing of two key documents: a Memorandum of Understanding on enhancing humanitarian cooperation in sustainable transport, and a Memorandum on the digitalization of international road transport licensing between China and the Central Asian countries.
