Tajikistan Showcases AI Initiatives at Global Summits in Geneva

DUSHANBE, 11.07.2026 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan presented its achievements and initiatives in digital transformation and artificial intelligence at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS+20) and the AI for Good Global Summit held in Geneva under the auspices of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), according to the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Speaking at the events, Director of the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies Khurshed Mirzo highlighted Tajikistan’s efforts to accelerate digital development and innovation under the leadership of President Emomali Rahmon.
He noted that, at the initiative of the President, Tajikistan has designated 2025–2030 as the Years of Digital Economy and Innovation Development and has adopted Central Asia’s first National Artificial Intelligence Development Strategy extending to 2040.
The summits also featured Tajikistan’s proposal to establish a Regional Artificial Intelligence Center in Dushanbe within the framework of the IT HUB DUSHANBE initiative.
Participants were additionally briefed on Tajikistan’s contribution to advancing international cooperation in artificial intelligence, including the adoption of a United Nations General Assembly resolution on the role of artificial intelligence in the sustainable development of Central Asia.
The WSIS+20 and AI summits brought together policymakers, international organizations, technology experts and private sector representatives to discuss the future of digital technologies and artificial intelligence and their contribution to sustainable development worldwide.
