What is the benefit of CASA-1000 project?
The “CASA-1000” project is one of the largest joint projects of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Pakistan, which will bring socio-economic and environmental benefits to member states of this project. The “CASA-1000” project is to minimize the shortage of electricity, bring commercial benefits to the partner countries and create new jobs.
For Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan this project is a real opportunity to export the excess electricity in summer and getting real profit from electricity exports.
For Afghanistan and Pakistan it is the opportunity to satisfy the needs of the population and the economy in relatively cheap and clean electricity.
Depending on the water level of the Vakhsh River, the electricity production is estimated to be from 3 to 8 billion kW/h. Within implementation of the “CASA-1000” project Tajikistan will be able to export abroad about 3 billion kW/h of electricity.
According to preliminary plans, electrical supply via high-voltage transmission lines “CASA-1000” will be launched in 2018.
