Dushanbe First to Install a New Year Tree in Central Asia
DUSHANBE, 13.12.2018. (NIAT Khovar) — Dushanbe has become the first city to install New Year trees, outpacing all other cities in Central Asia.
Tough there are numerous New Year trees installed throughout the city, the 27-meter tree standing in the main square is the highest in history of Tajikistan.
The trees are decorated with digital LED pixels which create impressive visual effects with changing colors and looks.
The main tree was decorated with 14,000 toys, a 15-kilometer-long LED garland and stockings made out of Tajik Atlas silk.
Streets and squares are decorated, and ornate New Year trees are also set up in shopping centers and hotels.
The city of Khujand also installed its New Year earlier than usual, on Monday.
On December 31, a festive concert with the participation of Tajik pop stars will be held in the main square in Dushanbe. A five-minute fireworks display will be launched following the concert. The roads in the city center will be closed at that time.
