Navruz Celebrations in Dushanbe Will Include a Festive Carnival
DUSHANBE, 06.03.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Preparatory works for Navruz are under way in Dushanbe. The city is getting everything set for the upcoming holiday celebrations, which will take place 21-25 March in Dushanbe.
In the capital, the main celebration will be held at the Dusti Square and will include a carnival. Comedians, tightrope walkers and other entertainers will take part in the carnival, reported the Department of Public Information and External Affairs at the Mayor’s Office.
A theatrical performance Ganjinai Navruz, meaning treasures of Navruz, will be held on March 22 in the Navruzgoh building.
Well-known artists will sing their best songs dedicated to Navruz. Those in attendance will be able to purchase traditional Tajik folk crafts items during the exhibition planned to take place the same day.
The international festival Touristic Cultural Heritage will be held on March 23. Besides organizing fun recreational activities for residents, the festival’s purpose is to present Dushanbe as a tourist destination. Guests from Dushanbe’s sister cities will be invited to the festival.
On March 23, also in Navruzgoh, residents and guests of the city will be able to see gushting, a traditional wrestling match. Horse racing will be held on March 24.
Also on Navruz in Dushanbe, a flower contest called Sayri Guli Lola will be held to identify the best composition and unique flower bed designs.
