Volume of Loans Issued Increased Despite the Coronavirus Pandemic

DUSHANBE, 11.02.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Despite the coronavirus pandemic, the volume of loans issued in Tajikistan increased in 2020. This was said yesterday by the Chairman of the National Bank Hokim Kholikzoda at a press conference.
According to him, the total volume of loans issued by credit institutions for 2020 amounted to 10 billion somoni, which is 4.7% or 446.1 million somoni more than in 2019. The volume of the total balance of the loan portfolio during this period reached 11 billion somoni, an increase of 12%, or 1.2 billion somoni compared to 2019.
“Of the total number of loans issued last year, 41% or 4.1 billion somoni falls on industrial entrepreneurship, 29.7% on consumption, 15.8% on foreign trade, 15.3% on agriculture, 12.3% for services,” Kholikzoda said.
According to him, today 69 credit financial organizations operate in Tajikistan, including 18 banks, one Islamic bank, 18 microcredit deposit organizations, five microcredit organizations, and 27 microcredit funds.
