Tajikistan, Turkmenistan Hold 14th Intergovernmental Commission Meeting

Trade turnover between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan is projected to reach $43.1 million in 2025, up 17.1% compared with 2024, reflecting growing economic cooperation between the two countries.

The figure was announced March 3 at the 14th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, held in Dushanbe.

According to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, the meeting was co-chaired by Tajik Deputy Prime Minister Sulaymon Ziyozoda and Turkmen Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tangriguli Atahalliev, with representatives of relevant ministries and agencies in attendance.

Participants noted that, under the leadership of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, bilateral cooperation has steadily expanded across sectors and reached a new level.

The sides discussed the current state and prospects of trade and economic ties, measures to boost mutual trade and cooperation in transport and communications, energy and water resources, industry and construction, agriculture, education and science, health care, the medical industry, civil aviation, youth and sports, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges. They also addressed expanding the legal and contractual framework governing bilateral relations.

The meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding, with both sides expressing confidence in further expanding trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation.

At the conclusion of the session, the parties signed the protocol of the 14th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission.
