DUSHANBE, 11.07.2026 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan is gradually moving from an economy largely dependent on raw material exports toward a production-based economy, President of the Republic of Tajikistan and Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon said on July 9 during a meeting with leaders and public representatives of Sughd Province and workers of the country’s industrial sector in Bobojon Ghafurov District.

The President noted that since the first days of independence, the Government of Tajikistan has identified industrial development as one of the key priorities of its economic policy and has consistently implemented measures aimed at the efficient use of national resources and the development of domestic production capacity.

According to Emomali Rahmon, the implementation of this policy is already producing tangible results, with the country steadily shifting away from reliance on raw material exports toward an economy based on value-added production.

«In this process, the development of ferrous metallurgy is of strategic importance and can significantly contribute to strengthening the country’s industrial and economic potential,» the Head of State said.

The President emphasized that Tajikistan possesses substantial reserves of metallic minerals and that the country’s strategic objective is not only to extract these resources but also to establish a complete production chain — from geological exploration and mining to the manufacture of finished metallurgical products.

To achieve this goal, the Government is giving priority attention to the development of processing industries, the introduction of advanced technologies, the production of import-substituting goods and the expansion of export-oriented manufacturing, Emomali Rahmon noted.
